Itinerary

Day 1: Pisac – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes

We begin this beautiful day at 7:00am when your guide picks you up from your Cusco hotel in our private van. Our journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas starts with a stop at the Mirador of Taray, offering expansive views of the Urubamba Valley and its traditional farming villages. You will see how agriculture in the Sacred Valley has remained largely unchanged over the past five hundred years. We then proceed to the archaeological site of Pisac, where you can view an impressive Inca cemetery with over 2,000 tombs, marvel at the meticulously engineered farming terraces, explore the Inca tunnel, and visit the religious sector of this significant citadel. We will spend approximately two hours exploring the Inca city before heading down to the colorful market of Pisac for a brief visit.

Next, we drive to Urubamba for a buffet lunch. After lunch, we continue to Ollantaytambo to explore the well-preserved Inca village and the massive Inca ruins. Our guide will provide a tour of the Sun Temple’s impressive architecture atop the formidable terraces, explaining its significance during the early Spanish conquest. After some time for dinner, you’ll take a train to Aguas Calientes, departing at 3:30pm and arriving at 6:05pm, where you’ll spend the night in your hotel.

Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

This is the day you’ve been eagerly anticipating! After an early breakfast at your hotel, you’ll catch one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu, an extraordinary site you won’t want to miss. Your guide will lead a comprehensive two-hour tour, covering the most significant parts of the Machu Picchu Citadel. You’ll learn about its division into three sectors: agricultural, residential, and religious.
Once you’ve soaked in the breathtaking views and rich history of Machu Picchu, you’ll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included). Depending on your train departure time, you may have the opportunity to do some shopping, sightseeing, or visit the museum or hot springs.
The Vistadome train will depart for Ollantaytambo at either 2:55 pm or 3:20 pm, following the scenic Urubamba River. The canyon near Aguas Calientes is narrow, featuring many beautiful sections of whitewater. If you look up at the steep canyon walls, you might spot Wiñay Wayna! Upon arrival in Ollantaytambo, your driver will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco in our private vehicle. You can expect to arrive at your hotel by 8:00 pm..
